Sam Driscoll was one of our Volunteer Dance Education Assistants. A recent graduate of the Stage and Screen program at Queen's University, Sam is also a dancer. She has been teaching ballet since age 15 and currently teaches jazz at Alyona Dance Studio. 'When [the Volunteer Dance Education Assistant] position came up, I knew that it was the perfect opportunity for me. What I really enjoyed about volunteering with Ballet Jorgen Canada was being surrounded by dance.'
'My advice to future volunteers would be to take advantage of all the cool opportunities that come your way. During my time at BJC, I was offered the opportunity to be an assistant stage manager at the Toronto Centre for the Arts and work front of house at the Betty Oliphant Theatre. I was able to make new connections, expand my skill set and see shows that I would not have had the chance to otherwise.'
This summer, Sam will be running a day camp for children ages 5 to 8 and then in the fall she plans on going back to school to study Television Writing and Production. We are so thankful to Sam for all of her hard work during her time at BJC. We wish her all the best in her future endeavours.
